JS, a high achiever from the Kimberleys who completed Year 12 in 2023, found herself at a crossroads, unsure of her next steps. Through exploration and guidance, she embarked on a journey of discovery with the YETE Program.

Exploring Career Pathways

Seeking direction, JS visited Centrelink, where she learned about available opportunities and support for young graduates. With assistance from the AAC, she was introduced to the “Try a Retailer” program, igniting her interest in the retail industry.

Excited to gain practical experience, JS enrolled in the 6-week “Try a Retailer” program, where she was placed at Altra Fine Foods in Karratha. The initiative aimed to provide hands-on training and exposure to various aspects of retail, helping participants assess their suitability for a career in the field.

Embracing the Experience

Throughout the program, JS immersed herself in different retail settings, learning about customer service, inventory management, and sales techniques. She discovered her knack for engaging with customers and organising merchandise displays, thriving in the fast-paced retail environment.

Growing Confidence

With each passing week, JS’s confidence flourished as she envisioned a future in retail. She found joy in blending her people skills with her organisational abilities, embracing the dynamic challenges of the industry.
