National Reconciliation Week

AAC has recently joined a community breakfast for National Reconciliation Week with Yinhawangka Aboriginal Corporation, The Shire of Ashburton, Rio Tinto, Sodexo and other members of the community in Paraburdoo.

National Reconciliation Week takes place from 27 May to 3 June this year. The 2022 theme is Be Brave – Make Change. It is a challenge to all Australians— individuals, families, communities, organisations and government—to Be Brave and tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation so we can Make Change for the benefit of all Australians. The event was held at the Ashburton Hall in Paraburdoo and included a virtual breakfast program watched on a big screen. Thought-provoking conversations started with a Welcome to Country and a Keynote Address by Stan Grant. The conversation intensified with a panel of Regional Voices and we were entertained by aboriginal singers and dance groups.

At AAC we are always eager to be part of the move intended to celebrate Indigenous history and culture in Australia and foster reconciliation discussion and activities.
