Kicking Goals in the Pilbara

maskKim Papertalk

Kim Papertalk has come a long way since he stepped into the AAC Tom Price office in November 2020. Our incredible team of Case Managers have been working with him to overcome some of the barriers that were stopping him from both gaining and keeping employment.

Through working with the AAC team, Kim achieved one goal, crossed that off his list, and was ready and motivated to reach the next.

By June 2021, Kim had achieved his next goal; to join the Ash Maintenance Team. He was ready and determined to dress in yellow and navy, prouder than ever to wear his hi-vis strips.

Ash Maintenance is one of AAC’s Enterprises designed to mentor and improve our Jobseeker’s work readiness level. Meeting up with Dwayne, Tai, Arnold, Edgar and the rest of the crew, Kim set off on his quest to renovate a home in Tom Price. The guys ripped the kitchen out, and demolished the flooring ready for the painting to commence.

Tai, who is a seasoned painter, mentored Kim through the process and showed him how to transform a property using a paint brush.

Fast forward a month down the track; Kim and his partner have the most beautiful 3-month-old baby. Kim is a doting dad and is prouder than ever to have stability and employment to support his growing family. Within a month, Kim has also saved up enough money to purchase a vehicle – a huge achievement for the young family.

Carlen Woods, Regional Manager for Tom Price has been so impressed with Kim reaching and exceeding his goals so quickly. When Carlen asked Kim what his next goal for the future was, he replied; “To get a job at the mines”.

The answer rolled off his tongue so quickly, you could tell he didn’t have to think about it.

Let’s make that happen, Kim!
