We recently had a number of our staff undertake some training that was delivered through Hands-On Infection Control they offer a broad range of education and training programs in infection prevention, management and related areas.
We were very lucky to have Megan Reilly the Director of Hands-On Infection Control delivery the workshop at our Harwell Way site. Megan is a registered general nurse with a Certificate in Infection Control obtained from Fremantle Hospital (1988). She obtained her Bachelor of Nursing at Edith Cowan University in 1999, Masters in Health Science (Infection Control) with Honors at Griffith University in 2002, Immunisation Certificate in 2008 and TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment in 2015. AAC staff who attended this workshop will receive a certificate in the coming weeks from Hands=On infection control.
Staff feedback was very positive and it was very timely as the following week Hedland had its first outbreak of Covid in the community.
The workshop that staff attended covered in particular the below area;
- Understand the type of precautions required to interrupt the chain of transmission
- Define the criteria for selecting and using PPE for contact, droplet and airborne precautions
- Demonstrate how to don and doff Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Describe effective cleaning and sanitizing practices
