AAC are thrilled to announce that our organization has been selected as the winner in the Closing the Loop category at the prestigious WasteSorted Awards!

This recognition is part of the WasteSorted initiative by the State Government of Western Australia, which aims to honour incredible achievements in waste management and applaud innovative solutions. As an organization dedicated to a low-waste and circular economy future, we align perfectly with the objectives of WasteSorted.

Hon. Reece Raymond Whitby MLA, Carlen Woods AAC Tom Price Regional Manager and Elizabeth Carr AM

At our company, we bottle and distribute our own YURRAMA water, delivering pallets of bottles to various destinations, including mining villages in the Pilbara and Goldfields regions. When the Containers for Change project was launched by WARRRL, we immediately jumped on board. We saw an opportunity to make a difference and decided to recover the containers we sell. These containers hold value for us, and we want to ensure their reuse by bottling our own water with them.

To facilitate this process, we have set up three refund points: a bag drop in Marble Bar, a pop-up point in Paraburdoo, and our main depot in Tom Price. Additionally, we collaborate with surrounding mining villages and mine sites through commercial agreements to collect containers, which we bring back to Tom Price to be sorted and counted by our dedicated staff.

Our ultimate goal is to reduce waste going to landfill, collect containers for recycling, provide employment opportunities for jobseekers, recycle the collected containers, and reuse them to bottle YURRAMA water, creating a self-sustaining cycle. We take immense pride in being the only supplier in Western Australia to recycle containers in this manner.

In our quest to promote the recycling of water containers and other beverage containers, we have included information about the AAC’s Containers for Change program in our sales documentation to customers. We hope to encourage our clients to join us in recycling the containers we provide, as well as any beverage containers consumed on their sites.

Our advertising proudly states: “By purchasing our Water, you are not only purchasing GOOD Water, but also supporting an organization that provides employment and training opportunities to enable individuals to provide for their families.

We are honoured to be recognised by the WasteSorted Awards for our commitment to closing the loop and actively working towards a sustainable future. This achievement inspires us to continue our efforts and find new ways to contribute to waste reduction while making a positive impact in our community.

Thank you to all our valued partners, customers, and supporters for joining us on this incredible journey toward a more sustainable tomorrow! Together, we can make a difference in waste management and build a better future for Western Australia.

Remember, every bottle counts! Let’s keep recycling and closing the loop for a greener planet!
