Following the theme of this year’s NAIDOC week “For Our Elders” AAC invited Elders from Hedland to a Christmas lunch in early December. Aboriginal Liaison Officer Nora Cook and other staff members prepared AAC’s Harwell site with lots of Christmas decorations being put up. Several staff members, including our Regional Manager Christie Haynes, spent hours in the kitchen preparing a delicious lunch for all Elders.
Additionally, AAC was very fortunate to secure a generous donation from Cat5 to organise some presents for all Elders. IBN donated beautiful desert roses to be given to the Elders as presents as well.
Everyone attending enjoyed the food very much, as well as the presents, with some Elders saying this was the best Christmas lunch they have ever attended.
AAC would like to sincerely thank Cat5 and IBN, without whom the Elders lunch would not have been the great success that it was.
