JOB DESCRIPTION:
A local aboriginal hostel is looking for Kitchenhand to commence casual employment.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Drivers licence preferred not compulsory
- Able to pass Pre-employment medical and Drug & Alcohol
- Must have or able to obtain Working with Children Check
- Must have or able to obtain National Police Clearance with no criminal histor
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Customer Services
- Welcome guests upon arrival, ensuring high quality customer service during their stay
- Work closely with hostel staff to accommodate guests’ needs
- Ensure a high level of customer service is provided to hostel residents at all times, including attending to resident requests in a professional and courteous manner.
Menu Planning
- Assist the Cook to plan menus weekly
- Ensure menus comply with hostel policy and Dietary Guidance for the hostel
- Ensure healthy meals are provided – eg. based on recipies from Heart Foundation
Meal Preparation
- Assist with preparation of quality meals in accordance with approved menus, Food Safety Standards and other relevant legislation
- Support the Cook to ensure that food expenditure does not exceed budget
Cleaning Services
- Clean kitchen and dining rooms
- Wash kitchen equipment and crockery
- Clean other common rooms
Stock Control & Food Ordering
- Assist the Cook with ordering of food and other supplies in line with approved menus
- Assist with maintenance of equipment
- Assist with the Cook to manage food storage
Professional Service & Working Relationship
- Work collaboratively and supports others
- Attend work on time and in accordance with approved roster (Work Pattern)
- Uphold the hostel Values and Code of Conduct
Work, Health and Safety (WHS)
- Promote health and safety in the workplace
- Promptly report workplace hazards and WHS issues, including injury or illness, to their manager of Health and Safety Representative (HSR)
- Report on repair and maintenance requirements in rooms and common areas
- Report unsafe, hazardous or emergency situations using the hostels Hazard & Incident Reporting procedures
