JOB DESCRIPTION:
A local aboriginal hostel is looking for Housekeepers to commence casual employment.
General housekeeping duties such as bed making, cleaning, laundering, etc.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Drivers licence preferred not compulsory
- Able to pass Pre-employment medical and Drug & Alcohol
- Must have or able to obtain Working with Children Check
- Must have or able to obtain National Police Clearance with no criminal history
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Welcome guests upon arrival, ensuring high quality customer service during their stay
- Work closely with hostel staff to accommodate guests’ needs
- Ensure a high level of customer service is provided to AHL residents at all times, including attending to resident requests in a professional and courteous manner
- Efficient, responsive and friendly service
- Clean, culturally safe, fit-for purpose kitchen and dining areas
- Acts professionally and treats everyone with respect and courtesy and acts in accordance with APS Values and Code of Conduct and AHL’s Child Protection Framework and relevant legislation
- Room Cleaning Services at the Checkout
- Perform high standard cleaning services in hostel rooms at the checkout times
- Collect linen and towels for laundry services
- Perform laundry services on a regular basis to ensure continuous supply of clean linen
- Rooms and bathrooms are clean and tidy and ready for next residents
- Linen and towels are changed and resident’s supplies are replenished
- Beds are made and floors are mopped and rubbish bins are emptied and relined
- Daily Housekeeping Services
- Perform high standard cleaning services on a daily basis for staying residents
- Collect linen and towels for laundry services
- Perform laundry services on a regular basis to ensure continuous supply of clean linen
- Rooms and bathrooms are clean and tidy
- Linen and towels are changed on a weekly basis and residents supplies are replenished as required
- Rubbish bins are emptied and relined
- Floors are mopped every two days, or daily if required
- Cleaning Services of Common Areas
- Perform high standard cleaning services on a daily basis of common areas, including toilets, bathrooms, TV rooms, office rooms and laundry
- Provides high standard of regular spring cleaning of hostel amenities
- Checks and ensures that common areas are cleaned on a daily basis
- Regular spring cleaning of common areas ensures clean fans, cupboards and other hostel furniture and equipment
- Stock Control
- Ensure that cleaning products (chemicals) are handled in accordance with WHS policies and procedures
- Reports on low stock of cleaning products
- Professional service & Working Relationship
- Work collaboratively and supports others
- Attend work on time and in accordance with approved roster (Work Pattern)
- Uphold the APS Values and Code of Conduct
- Treats everyone with respect and courtesy
- Always works to assigned work pattern except on approved leave
- Actively participates in team work and assists to meet AHL objectives Work, Health & Safety (WHS)
- Promote health & safety in the workplace
- Promptly report workplace hazards and WHS issues, including injury or illness, to their manager or Health and Safety Representative (HSR)
- Report on repair and maintenance requirements in rooms and common areas
- Report unsafe, hazardous or emergency situations using AHL’s Hazard & Incident Reporting procedures
- Uses equipment and chemicals safely and in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions
- Reports any health, harassment and safety hazards in accordance with AHL’s procedures
- Dresses to AHL dress code and occupational requirements
- Participates in WHS training as required
- Other duties as directed
- Constantly seeks to improve quality service delivery
