This full-time Containers for Change Coordinator role with Ashburton Aboriginal Corporation in Tom Price, WA offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the organisation’s operations within the recycling industry.  Our Containers for Change site is open to the public and the program is used to support jobseekers in their preparation for ongoing employment.

The primary purpose of the Containers for Change Coordinator is to manage operations associated with our Containers for Change facility and work with staff to achieve targets and develop a safe and efficient workplace. We are seeking an experienced and people focused manager to lead a team and drive operational excellence, focusing on safety, growth and achieving optimal results in a fast-paced, high-impact environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics, workplace safety, and managing teams as well as demonstrating a can-do attitude and ability to lead by example to set standards in performance and culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of Refund Point Operations and Logistics across a designated area, ensuring efficiency, safety, and quality compliance.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train small, culturally diverse teams, fostering a positive work environment and driving high performance. Promote a culture of teamwork, and continuous
  • Deliver outstanding customer service to the public, commercial customers, community organisations, and stakeholders, ensuring satisfaction and engagement.
  • Coordinate transportation logistics, manage relationships with contractors, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
  • Ensure Tom Price collection points are well-presented, maintaining a safe, clean, and professional environment for both team members and customers.
  • Maintain a strong focus on health and safety protocols, ensuring all activities comply with AAC standards, regulatory requirements, and contractual obligations.
  • Contribute to the identification of opportunities for expansion and business growth within the collection and recycling industry. Assist with developing strategies to increase collection volumes and community engagement.
  • When needed, assist team to count and sort containers by material types to maintain accurate inventory and facilitate efficient processing.

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience in managing operations, logistics, and teams, preferably in a recycling, logistics, or waste management environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to utilise strong relationships to drive team performance and deliver results.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, compliance, and risk management practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to build strong relationships with customers, stakeholders, and internal teams.
  • Physically fit, with the ability to perform manual lifting when required (up to 15kg).
  • Be available to work a roster covering weekends
  • Be passionate about coaching and mentoring new staff members.
  • Commitment to environmental sustainability and the Containers for Change program

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum 2 years’ Management experience
  • Strong desire to coach and mentor others
  • Excellent communication skills
  • National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check
  • Forklift license (can be facilitated after onboarding)
