Our September BBQ Connect was a vibrant success, held on the 26th with a fantastic turnout of jobseekers. It was wonderful to see so many community members come together to connect with local services and explore employment opportunities in a relaxed, welcoming setting.
We were joined by Yaandina, TAFE, Epic, Mackillop, Pilbara Support Network, and Coles—whose support continues to strengthen the impact of these events. Their presence helps foster meaningful conversations and pathways for jobseekers, reinforcing the collaborative spirit that defines BBQ Connect.
A huge thank you to Casey, who kept the BBQ sizzling and the patties flipping, and to Ruby, who captured the energy and smiles of the day behind the camera. We also want to acknowledge Susie, who brought colour and celebration to the event by blowing up balloons and decorating the space. And of course, a big shout-out to Mikarla and Alana for their fantastic work in arranging the catering—ensuring everyone was well-fed and looked after.
BBQ Connect is more than just a community lunch—it’s a platform for engagement, support, and connection. These events continue to break down barriers, build trust, and create opportunities for jobseekers to interact with service providers in a culturally safe and informal environment.
We’re proud of the momentum this series has built and look forward to continuing these events as a cornerstone of our community outreach and employment support strategy.
