Following our Perth NAIDOC celebration, we’re sharing another special highlight from the day: our Yarning Wall.
At the top of the wall, the words Reflect and Share invited guests to pause, consider their experiences and contribute their thoughts.
Three rivers represented stories, knowledge and connection, with each stream carrying a different prompt:
- The blue river invited guests to share a commitment I will carry forward and represented Ashburton Aboriginal Corporation.
- The green river asked guests to name one way I can support reconciliation and represented Tjiwarl.
- The orange river encouraged guests to reflect on a learning I’m taking away about Aboriginal culture and community and represented the City of Belmont.
Throughout the celebration, guests took time to read the messages, add their own reflections and yarn with others over lunch. It was a simple yet powerful way to encourage meaningful conversations and create a lasting record of the ideas, commitments and learnings shared on the day.
The Yarning Wall reflected the spirit of the wider celebration, bringing community members, local businesses, partners and supporters together in a warm and welcoming space to listen, learn and connect.

The Yarning Wall will now be donated to the City of Belmont and displayed at its centre as a lasting reminder of the importance of coming together, sharing stories and strengthening understanding across our community.
