Ashburton Aboriginal Corporation (AAC) has officially launched the Hedland Ready2Work Program at our Wedgefield site.
The eight-week program provides paid positions for up to five participants per group, combining hands-on work, training, mentoring and connections to future employment opportunities.
The program focuses on building routine, communication, teamwork, safe work practices and job readiness through site-based work, community activities, training and mentoring.
Week One
The first week focused on onboarding, workplace expectations and work health and safety.
Participants were introduced to pre-starts, Take 5s and risk awareness, completed a WHS quiz and undertook Safe Food Handling training. The week also provided an opportunity to plan and prepare for the practical activities ahead.

Week Two
In the second week, participants moved into practical horticulture, cleaning and maintenance activities.
Daily pre-starts, risk assessments and Take 5s continued to reinforce safe work practices, alongside ongoing mentoring and support.
The Hedland Ready2Work Program aims to provide a bridge between participation, skill-building and future employment or further training opportunities.
