A new initiative launched in South Hedland that brought together seven jobseekers from diverse backgrounds, all eager to make a difference in their community and take steps toward employment. The Pressure Force Work Experience Crew, a collaboration between Ashburton Aboriginal Corporation and Pressure Force, was formed to support local people through meaningful work and skill-building.
The crew joined the litter-picking team, working five days a week from 9am to 3pm, helping clean up and beautify areas around South Hedland. Each morning, Alana ensured the team was ready to start the day, providing transport and a supportive presence that helped build routine and confidence.
Over the course of the program, the jobseekers demonstrated commitment, teamwork, and pride in their work. Their efforts not only improved the local environment but also showcased the power of community-driven employment pathways.
To celebrate their achievements, a graduation ceremony was held where each participant received a personalised engraved water bottle and was offered a casual work contract with Pressure Force. One standout participant was offered a full-time contract, a testament to the potential and growth shown during the program.
Working with Pressure Force has been a rewarding experience. Their understanding of local people, their challenges, and their strengths has made a real impact. They met participants where they were, offering not just work but dignity and opportunity.
AAC and Pressure Force are committed to continuing this partnership, with more initiatives planned to empower local people and create sustainable employment pathways.
This is more than just a work experience program, it’s a story of community, opportunity, and transformation.
