South Hedland’s First BBQ Connect Fires Up Community Spirit

Fresh off the grill and full of heart, AAC South Hedland’s first BBQ Connect brought jobseekers, employers, and service providers together over a tasty roll and a chat—breaking down barriers and building pathways to opportunity.

The AAC South Hedland Team kicked off their very first BBQ Connect with a warm welcome and a tasty roll, creating the perfect setting for community connection. The event brought together jobseekers, employers, and service providers in a casual, friendly environment designed to spark conversation and open doors to opportunity.

The event created a relaxed, informal space where jobseekers could comfortably engage with employers like One Tree and FMG, ask questions, and explore opportunities. Service providers including Hope Community Services, North Regional TAFE, Apprenticeships Support Australia, PCLS Pilbara Community Legal Services, and VTS’s SEE Program were also on hand, offering support and guidance in a way that felt approachable and personal.

The casual atmosphere helped break down barriers, allowing jobseekers to ask questions, share their stories, and explore pathways with confidence. For many, it was a chance to connect with potential employers and support networks in a way that felt personal and empowering. The success of this first BBQ Connect has laid the groundwork for future events that continue to build strong community ties and open doors to employment.

The next BBQ Connect will be held on Friday 25th July, if you would like to attend please email employment.services@ashburton.net.au
