Empowering Pathways at AAC

Ashburton Aboriginal Corporation and Pilbara Community Legal Service hosted a powerful workshop supporting job seekers to regain their driver’s licences and improve financial wellbeing.

This week, Ashburton Aboriginal Corporation proudly hosted a transformative workshop in partnership with Pilbara Community Legal Service (PCLS), focused on empowering job seekers to reclaim their independence—starting with something many of us take for granted: a driver’s licence.

Led by PCLS Principal Solicitor, Mark, the session guided participants through the practical steps to regain a suspended licence and provided valuable insight into financial wellbeing—an essential component in achieving long-term stability and confidence. With AAC-assisted transport for Wakathuni residents and strong attendance from local Tom Price job seekers, the workshop created a safe and supportive space to turn setbacks into stepping stones.

The day began with warm conversations over coffee, followed by group discussions and one-on-one sessions that helped job seekers create personal action plans. More than just about legalities and procedures, the session sparked renewed self-belief, encouraging participants to view past mistakes as growth opportunities.

Following the workshop, everyone came together over a shared lunch—prepared by AAC staff—which served as a moment of connection and encouragement. The event embodied AAC’s commitment to supporting the whole person: fostering not just employment outcomes, but lasting confidence, capability, and purpose.

Workshops like these are more than just information sessions. They are catalysts for change, opening doors and building stronger communities—one person at a time.
