JOB DESCRIPTION:

A local aboriginal hostel is looking for Hostel Manager to commence casual employment.

Customer Service

  • Welcome guests upon arrival, ensuring high quality customer service during their stay
  • Work closely with hostel staff to accommodate guests’ needs
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure guest needs are attended to
  • Ensure all guest reservations and booking are up to date and accurate using the hostels reservation management (RMS)

Hostel Operations

  • Responsible for administrative tasks including RMS, budgeting and hostel expenditure
  • Where required, assist with general cleaning duties, housekeeping, food preparation or kitchenhand assistance
  • Be thorough with handovers at the beginning and end of shifts, to maintain consistent and supportive customer service

Staff Management

  • Provide line management, support and leadership to all hostel staff
  • Coordinate hostel rosters and leave arrangements to ensure effective hostel operation
  • Oversee performance management and identify training needs for hostel staff
  • Work closely with the Business and Operations Managers to support hostel operation

Professional Service and Community Engagement

  • Facilitate productive working relationships with local providers, suppliers and hostel staff
  • Attends work on time and in accordance with approved roster (Work Pattern)
  • Resolve complex issues to ensure a positive, culturally appropriate experience and quality stay for residents
  • Ensure that complaints are addressed in line with the hostels complaints handling procedures

Work, Health & Safety (WHS) Property Maintenance

  • Perform all tasks in a manner which upholds the hostels commitment to safety of its staff and residents by adhering to relevant WHS practices
  • Promptly report workplace hazards and WHS issues, including injury of illness, to their manager or Health and Safety Representative (HSR)
  • Report unsafe, hazardous or emergency situations using the hostels Hazard & Incident Reporting procedures
  • Appropriately use equipment or substances and report all property maintenance
  • Perform the duties of the First Aid Officer and Emergency Warden when on duty

Other

  • Other duties as required

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Drivers licence preferred but not compulsory
  • Able to pass a pre-employment medical and Drug & Alcohol screen
  • Must have or able to obtain Working with Children Check
  • Must have or able to obtain National Police Clearance with no criminal history
